Thinking of extending your stay?
Just a stones throw away from the hotel is the coastal town of Portishead. If views are what you are after, you can't visit Portishead without stopping at the quaint Battery Point and Black Nore Lighthouses. Over looking the Bristol Channel with views reaching South Wales on clear days, you'd struggle to find a bad vantage point! The 30-minute walk between the two lighthouses takes you along the coast and is a favourite amongst our guests, especially those visiting with their dogs.
Our guest swear that Portishead Beach is the areas best kept secret! And who are we to disagree?! Located between Woodhill and Kilkenny Bays, it is a comfortable, picturesque, pebbly beach that offers views of South Wales, but without the hassle of having to battle hoards of tourists to get a good spot. If you fancy taking a dip, make sure to take advantage of the green energy heated open air pool located at the far end of the beach. The 33m lido is open April to September, and has an onsite café, tuck shop, and a separate toddler pool.
And, of course, any trip to Portishead is not complete until you've taken a stroll down the Marina. When the weather is nice, it is like getting transported to a different world, but with a wide array of restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops to enjoy - don't let the weather hold you back! We really enjoy admiring the different boats as we wander round on a sunny afternoon.
Heading away from the coast, and only 10 minutes from our Ramada Bristol West M5 hotel is the breath-taking Tyntesfield, an ornate Victorian Gothic Revival house with extensive garden and parkland. Between the visiting the house, stopping at the cafe, and browsing the gift shop indoors, and exploring the vast outdoor spaces, including multiple play areas, a sculpture trail, and garden or woodland walks you'll have plenty to choose from. Having started as a smaller Georgian family home, discover how it became a masterpiece.
